CPT, I want to mention each one of you in this blog so that you know that I am not just letting you get away with wasting hours in this class. IF YOU CANNOT BE WORKING ON YOUR FINAL PROJECT YOU NEED TO BE WORKING ON SOMETHING ELSE.

Jeff, it snowed. GET SOME FOOTAGE THIS WEEKEND OR I AM GONNA BE MAD. Mitch and Casey, same goes for you two. You already have some, but you need more. You may sign out a camera if you can't find your own. Just remember to be careful.

Austin and Kelsey, you should already have a song. GET TO WORK.

Cole - you may take a camera when there are practices or games. You need to get something on film before Christmas holidays.

Zach, Connor, and Trey, you are on your own for getting footage, I hope you are working on this at home!!!!

Teala and Kassidy, stay off your phones and make sure you are working. I haven't read your proposal, but I know the idea of it, and you need to get started.

Caitlyn, Amy, Salome, Britain, Kaylee, Amber, Courtney, Isaac, Daniel, and Rorey, I wish I had had the chance to speak to each one of you this week to see how things are going, if you are changing your minds, if you have your storyboard done, if you have a good start on your idea..... so be ready Monday to be bombarded by my questions.

Hey guys. Not here today. Sorry 'bout that.

Teala, Kassidy, Trey, Connor, Kelsey, Cole and those I have forgotten..... you need to get your picture projects done and hand in your proposals for your final project. NOW!!!

All the other proposals I have received are okay. You may proceed. And if there are things that need to be 'tweeked' we will talk when I get back.

Everyone else, and YOU KNOW WHO I AM TALKING TO, stay on task, get to work. If you can't work on your project, you NEED to go get something to work on. And I know all your teachers. If you do nothing this hour and I ask around and find out otherwise, you will be sorry. :)

Hey CPT

I am not going to be in today. Feeling a bit under the weather.

I was talking to a few students and I think this Boom de Yada assignment should be done by Friday. Don't freak out yet, because I am not dead set on that date. If you need more time, you need to talk to me.... email or wait until tomorrow....

There are a few kids who have not handed in their movie trailer.... PLEASE DO THAT TODAY! NO EXCUSES!

If you are done and would like something to think about, think about this: you are required to complete a final project in this class. It will be assigned for you to work on at a way later date, but you might as well start thinking. You can do a family movie, a music video, a commercial, a documentary... the possibilities are endless. BUT it has to be approved by me first. :) Think about it and we will talk later.

Teacher: Please do attendance in the blue binder and online. There are a handful that will be done today, keep them off of online games and YOUTUBE.... it slows down the system. There are a few that are downloading from youtube, and that is okay. But it HAS TO BE FOR THEIR ASSIGNMENT!!!!

Your assignment is to generate a 2-3 minute video welcoming people to your school. This could be used for welcoming new students, or used to attract new students from other schools. Here are the steps that you need to follow in developing this assignment:

Review all of the lessons found in Pre-Production and Production.
Generate a storyboard. Remember that the storyboard will contain all of the different shots and locations that you will be using. If it isn't on the storyboard, don't bother to shoot it, as you won't be able to use it. You also need to have chosen any background music and/or written any script before you seek approval.
Get approval from your teacher for the storyboard.
Shoot the required shots. make arrangements for everyone required to be available at one time, so that you don't waste precious shooting time trying to find people.
Import the video into the editing software.
Assemble the clips, music and titles onto the timeline.
Use only the cross dissolve for transitions, unless you seek prior approval from your teacher.
You should have the names of the group members before the beginning of the video.
There should be credits at the end.
The last thing on your video should be the date.
Export the finished project to whatever format your teacher requires.

Pre-production includes all activities related to planning. The following are examples:

Post Production Stage

During post-production the job of editing begins.
Editing is often considered the most challenging, creative, satisfying, and time consuming stage of production. In order to edit audio and video footage, an editing system is required. Nonlinear equipment is preferred, especially at Levels 20 and 30, but if it is not available students at this level can edit with two VCRs or two tape machines.Or, in our day, appropriate editing software.

Post-production includes:

addition of audio elements

addition of graphics, including headings, logos, and credits.

Introduction

Communication Production Technology 10, 20, 30 develops knowledge, skills, and abilities in audio, video, and multimedia production technologies. Throughout the course, students will participate in hands-on production-oriented activities, labs, and projects. Students will also engage in research and use industry specific terminology. Wherever possible, students will be learning concepts, vocabulary, and skills within the context of an actual production experience. The course will encourage students to work as a contributing member of a production team, engaged in processes commonly used within the communication production industry.

The Communication Production Technology course encourages the establishment of close links between schools and industry. For example, students should be exposed to site visits, work study, and job shadowing opportunities whenever possible. In an effort to provide students with employability skills in the industry, student assessment and evaluation should consider established and innovative practices within the industry. At the 30 level, students will be expected to compile a presentation portfolio of their work.

Communication Production Technology 20 increases students' understanding of important knowledge, skills, and abilities required in the creation of audio, video, and multimedia products. Students will be engaged in more complex processes than they experienced at Level 10, and will participate in one or more production projects. Post-production activities may be minimal at this level. Students will be expected to increase their understanding of all three of audio, video, and multimedia production.

Awareness: To develop knowledge, skills, and abilities used in communication production technologies.
Business Environment: To respond to current and innovative practices of the video, audio, and multimedia industry sector.
Career and Employment: To develop team-building skills, technical skills, and communication skills required for the workplace.
Personal Development: To promote self-esteem, confidence, and a positive attitude to communication production technology and present the results of students' efforts in working and presentation portfolios.
Communications: To develop students' social and communication skills as practitioners, potential employees, and entrepreneurs in the communication production industry sector.
Business and Entrepreneurial Attitudes: To provide a practical approach to developing and using students' skills and abilities in a variety of communication production ventures.

Foundational Objectives

Foundational objectives are the major, general statements that guide what each student is expected to achieve. Foundational objectives indicate the most important knowledge, skills, attitudes/values, and abilities for a student to learn in a particular course. Both the foundational objectives for Communication Production Technology 10, 20, 30 and the common essential learnings (CELs) foundational objectives to be emphasized are stated in each module of this guide. Some of these statements may be repeated or enhanced in different modules for emphasis. The foundational objectives of the core modules of the Communication Production Technology 10, 20, 30 curriculum are presented below.

• To develop an understanding of the scope and expectations of the Communication Production Technology course.
• To understand the role and influence of communication technology in today's world.
• To develop an awareness of the three stages of communication production.
